The Voice and its Double
The Voice and its Double

The Russian-French filmmaker Bogdan Zoubowitch (1901–1999) realised the puppet animation short film “Histoire sans parole” (Story Without Words) in 1934 as a "surprising geopolitical comedy relating to the sino-japanese conflict of 1931” as Robert Boupart described it in his 2007 text, “Du Praxinoscope au Cellulo”. The excerpt here begins “Uncle Sam“ arriving to encounter the Soviet representative recovering from a crack to his head from the Japanese soldier. In an unobserved moment, the Soviet steals the bag of money from the American and runs back to the USSR. Courtesy Dr Jean Liamine and the Centre nationale de la cinématographie CNC Paris.
